Our objectives

Sustainable crop health management addresses a major societal challenge: reducing agriculture's dependence on synthetic pesticides. These products have harmful effects on human health (including that of farmers), biodiversity, and the environment.

In this context, the SuMCrop metaprogram (MP) focuses on "integrated crop health management," mobilizing multiple scientific disciplines in partnership with agricultural sectors, local stakeholders, and society. Sustainable crop health management indeed raises biological, agronomic, economic, and organizational issues. SuMCrop supports a range of projects using various approaches, including biocontrol, the use of resistant varieties, prophylaxis, the study of unintended effects, the use of “service plants”, biodiversity's regulatory effects, and much more.

Our objective is to support interdisciplinary pathways (or progress toward interdisciplinarity) on issues related to crop health, built on actions that initiate and strengthen collaborations and connections between individuals or teams with complementary expertise. The MP aims to support interdisciplinary consortia seeking national or international funding. Our broader ambition is to encourage risk-taking and foster innovative exploratory projects.
